A “Zippy” Weekend
March 10, 2008
March 10, 2008
I’m SO excited because my office, which recently went through a dramatic transformation from disorganized train wreck to tidy hot spot, is about to become even more luxurious. This weekend Doug and I rented a Zip Car and went to Target to buy a rug for the beautiful oasis formerly known as my ugly office. I bought a black one for obvious reasons.
I’m about to go online and look for some equally aesthetically pleasing furniture, and shortly, I will top all this off with a massage chair. Not as opulent as the one I bought D for Christmas, but good enough to be the envy of all. Of course my peeps are welcome to use it when I’m not around.
Have you all heard of Zip Car? I don’t have a car currently, because living in this area of the country, you don’t really need one. Although, I will say it makes life so much easier so I’m going to be getting one soon enough… But until then, Zip Car is the way to go. You can rent it for an hour or whatever; the lot is right near D’s house so we literally just ran across the street and we were on our merry way.
Target, by the way, is heaven.
All in all, last week was a great one. My dad was wrapping up his publicity tour for his new book “Storming Las Vegas” (Check it out! It’s at bookstores everywhere or you can buy it on Amazon) He did an interview on “Fox and Friends Weekend” early Saturday morning. I bet he was tired! Friday night, we had a family party for him, following Thursday’s very successful book party at Mickey Mantle’s. And speaking of…What a blast that was! First, Mickey Mantle’s is just a cool place, and I love the folks that run it, especially Bart Alexander. It was an amazing turnout with a lot of my friends, most of whom have never met my dad before. We also had my dad’s agent, Simon Green and his editor Mark Tavani — both really cool guys. I hope he ends up writing another book because I’d love to hang out with them again. My dad’s family also drove up from DC, including his brother Norman, his sister in law Marie and nephew John, niece Kathleen. And then of course we had the whole Fox News group — he was on practically every FNC show this past week, which really helped book sales. Roger Ailes, Fox’s head honcho was kind enough to give a brief speech. Thank God at least he was able to talk; I tried to give a speech and I started bawling. I was crying like a baby. Horrifying.
Anyway, a HUGE thanks to everyone that came. It was a blast and my dad was never more thrilled in his life.
So after the much quieter but still cool family fest on Friday, I headed home for a nice long sleep.
On Saturday night, Doug and I and our friends Phil and Jen went to see the new U2 3-d movie. It was really cool, although I wished the theater would have played the music a little louder. I wanted to get up and scream along to the songs but I would’ve looked like a moron had I done so in that environment. Instead, I just hyperventilated in my seat. They are my favorite band, hands down. I’ve seen every single tour since they first came to the U.S. (including a show way back in the day at Radio City) and I’m dying for them to schedule another.
On the show today — Andrew McCarthy, formerly of iconic 80’s movies like St. Elmo’s Fire and Class; currently starring in Lipstick Jungle. I usually try to chat with the guests before the show but ended up racing around this morning so I never got a chance to meet him until right before he went on. I was told he wasn’t too keen on discussing the “Brat Pack,” which is surprising because that was such a hugely successful posse of actors. Then again, how many years has he been talking about the good ol’ days? I guess if someone asked me every day for the next 25 years about Mike Jerrick, I’d get a little tired of it, too. Just kidding, Mikey. I can’t talk about you enough buddy. Pal-ly. Dude. (He LOATHES it when I call him “buddy”; one of his exes called him that during a fight and he almost became ill! haha)
Ahhhhhh!!! Just got an email from my dad:
New York — Random House Publishing confirmed Monday morning that John Huddy’s critically acclaimed “Storming Las Vegas” would enter its second printing immediately after a sharp climb in book sales during its second week in bookstores and on the web.
“Storming Las Vegas” vaulted to the number one position on the true crime chart by March 6, according to Amazon sales tracking.
Yayyyyyyyy, Dad!
And while I’m all over websites…
A few months ago, the wonderful folks at OK-magazine.com followed me around for a day from early morning to late afternoon, kind of a Day in the Life of a Talk Show Host. It’s short, and really cute. They even followed me home to Hoboken where I visited my favorite clothing boutique, Down To Earth and one of my favorite haunts, The Madison. Click on the link below and then type in ‘Juliet Huddy’ in the search bar.

That’s it for me today. I’m going to go do some research on Skeet Ulrich (CBS’s Jericho) and one of my favorite actresses, Parker Posey. They’ll be on the show later this week…
Tata!
