  • Happily Ever After

  • Yaaaay, it’s Monday.

I had a great weekend — Saturday night Doug and I hosted an engagement party for my friend Rebecca Gomez from Fox Business News and her fiancé Brett, who also happens to be Doug’s cousin. We went to an amazing Greek restaurant in the city called Barbounia, on Park and 20th I believe. You walk in and really get the NYC vibe; the staff was really cool, too. Hi to our great servers and our lovely hostess!

I think I cried more than Rebecca did, actually. When Doug was giving a toast I started to bawl like a baby (who, ME?); I’m sure everyone thought it was because it wasn’t MY engagement party, hahaha! Seriously, I was slightly overcome with emotion because of all of our history, the four of us, I mean.

Ready for the storybook to open? So back up a few years. Rebecca and I were good friends, and she was dating “M.” “M” was a partner in a bar here in the city. We would go there and hang out from time to time. One of the other people involved in the bar was a guy named Adam. Rebecca and “M” ended up breaking up, but Adam and I got to be good friends. One night I invited him out to Hoboken to join me and my buddies for an evening on the town. Adam invited his cousin, Brett. Rebecca and Brett met, started dating. About a month after they started dating, Brett brought his cousin, Doug out. Doug and I became friends, but I was dating someone else at the time. Rebecca would constantly see how tormented I was in my relationship, and she’d say “You should go out with Doug! He has a crush on you.” Although I thought he was very sweet, he wasn’t my type, or so I’d thought. Over time, our friendship grew. My relationship ended, and… the rest is history. It was just so strange seeing how, after some bumps in the road for all of us; it all came together in the end.

And the best part, Doug is Brett’s best man, and I’m Rebecca’s maid of honor. J

So seriously, we had a great show today starting off with more on the polygamy nightmare unfolding in Texas. Now it seems the caller who ignited the raid at the compound in Eldorado is a hoax. Possibly a woman, an African-American woman at that (which would be improbable as I’ve been told given the mindset of the sect’s members).

We also did a segment today on bullies who are using their classmates’ food allergies against them as a sort of “weapon.” Our guest was tormented by her former friends who decided they didn’t think she was cool anymore and wanted to see if she was really telling the truth about her face blowing up. So they planned a “peanut party” for the following day during lunch. Ugh, this brings me right back to 6th, 7th grade when I was tormented for a time. Although my LIFE wasn’t in jeopardy it was painful as hell. Add to that emotional pain the physical pain and stress caused when you think you may actually die and it’s not a rite of passage for elementary kids into their teen years; it’s a crime. A serious one at that.

Lightening things up, hip hop star (and sex tape star ha-ha) Ray J (Brandy’s little brother) performed. Yet another friendly, polite young star. Supposedly he’s dating Whitney Houston, 17 years his senior but he tried to downplay it a bit like they’re just ‘hanging out’. Go Whit! Ha-ha!

Coming up this week we have Kelsey Grammar talking about the possibility of him running for office. He’d be GREAT I think. We also have a story for those of you who are starting to get up there, want kids but have no prospects. We’ll break down the whole concept of freezing your eggs, the viability of doing so, the costs, etc.

    Tune in!
