Hello Blog Peeps.
I can’t get my act together enough to get picturess of my Cinco de Mayo/Brett&Rebecca Engagement Bash, but luckily Rebecca did!
If you have no interest in my previous blog, matching faces to names, seeing television people and their friends in all their slightly buzzed and in some cases drunken glory, then do not proceed.
As I mentioned, I had a party on Saturday night. I love the Mexican culture, the people, the food, the drinks haha… So I decided to celebrate my love for said things by throwing a massive bash at my condo. I also wanted to celebrate my friend Rebecca’s engagement to my boyfriend Doug’s cousin, Brett. We’re all really tight, and if it weren’t for Brett, I wouldn’t have met Doug. Doug is the best man, and I’m the maid of honor in their upcoming October wedding.
The party was a smash, so much fun and so many people. Here are just a few pictures to kind of give you an idea of my life outside of M&J.

Here’s the bride, Rebecca Gomez. You might know her from her business reporting at Fox News Channel. Now she anchors “Happy Hour” on the Fox Biz Channel. We’ve known eachother since 1999, when I was a brand new addition to Fox News Channel’s LA bureau; she’d been working there as a correspondent. We really didn’t become close until we both ended up at FNC’s headquarters here in NYC a few years later. Since then, she and I have become great friends — she lives two floors below me, and is dating my boyfriend’s cousin (Brett).

If you’re in the NJ area, and you’re looking for a wedding cake — look no further than Carlo’s. It’s an institution, located on Washington Street in my beloved Hoboken. I walked in there a few days before the party thinking I’d grab some cupcakes. I walked out with THIS! They did such an awesome job. The camera can’t do this cake justice. It wasn’t exactly cheap but it was well worth it. Doug and I put it over in the corner near the kitchen, to sort-of feature it so people could check it out. We had to move it shortly after the party began to the bedroom though because people were knocking into the card table that it was sitting on. I would have had a meltdown if it fell on the floor.

In keeping with the spirit of the holiday, Doug (the bald hottie) and I decided to rent a frozen margarita machine. Frank from frozendrinkguys.com delivered it promptly on Saturday a few hours before the party, and by party time it was frozen and ready to go. It was such a hit that, sadly, the mix actually ran out not even halfway into the party. That’s his cousin (the groom) Brett. Doesn’t he look like Tom Cruise?

The long-haired wild guy is Cody Willard, co-host of “Happy Hour.” He’s like the Tasmanian devil, I swear to you. He walked in and amped the party up a few notches to say the least. And Brett and Doug.

These are some of our friends. Mimi is on the left, she’s married to Mark, the guy on the right. They’re hilarious. And ridiculously smart. They met at…wait for it…MIT. As in people who are freakishly smart in areas I can’t even spell. The two cutiepies in the middle are Jen and Phil; they’re married. Phil is one of Doug’s best friends from childhood. Mark is a college friend of Brett’s. It’s pretty cool — all the boys from Georgetown stay very close and all the wives/girlfriends have become close as well.

There’s Doug again, and his friends John and Derek. I call John “Hops”, because his last name is Hopwood, and all the G-town boys call him “Hoppy”. Or is it “Hoppie”? At any rate, he’s adorable and one of the nicest guys. And SINGLE ladies woop, woop!

These are some of the wives/fiancées of the Georgetown crew. On the left is Ashley, engaged recently to Derek. They’re both really gorgeous in pictures but even more gorgeous in person. I think Jerrick has a thing for Ashley.
Mairen is married to Mike R. You’ll see him in a bit. Mike is also one of the G-town folks. Even though Doug didn’t go to G-town, he became really close with Mike. Mike and Mairen were featured a few months back on one of our video blogs when they came to see the show. She’s really funny and obviously beautiful. You might remember her from the giant beacon that sits on her left ring finger. The sickest engagement ring I have ever seen!!!
Mellissa is married to Matt, aka “Colonel.” I don’t really know why they call him Colonel come to think of it. Mellissa will always be near and dear to me; she’s a nurse and was instrumental the night of Doug’s birthday, when my mom collapsed (she’s fine by the way). Mel calmed me down and really helped mellow the insanity.
And you know the other two kooks.

Here’s Rebecca D. and Adam — another really cool married couple. Sadly, my little princess Rebecca wasn’t feeling so hot that night so they left pretty early. That’s ok, I’m sure I’ll see her VERY soon, right Rebecca!!!

If you’re a Fox News watcher, then you recognize Rick Leventhal. He’s one of the best news correspondents out there today and a really cool guy to boot. That’s his equally talented (and hot) news anchor girlfriend, Lauren and crazy Cody.

There’s Ashley again and Melissa #2. She’s married to Anthony, another G-town boy who isn’t in a single picture sadly. She was so, so, so nice at the party as it was wrapping up; I didn’t see this because I was off in la-la land by that point but my mom tells me Mel went on a cleaning rampage and was a huge help. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Here’s my girl Rebecca D. again and another fiancée of the G-town crew, Catherine. Catherine and Franklin (see him in a bit) got engaged recently. Something’s in the water, I swear with this G-town crew.

Here’s Derek again. When I first started to get to know Brett, I used to get him and Derek mixed up. They’re very close friends and look identical. Same hair color, same height, same sense of humor. The guy on the right is Mairen’s hubby, Mike. They got married back in October. I was pretty new to the whole scene then, hadn’t really met a lot of them at that point. I was all set to go to their wedding, which I hear was beautiful, but then Mike and I had to fly out last minute to LA to host a radio event with Gwen Stefani. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Gwen, but I never actually even got to meet her. That was the one thing that gave me peace with the fact that I was going to miss the wedding of the year. I saw pics afterward and holy smokes you should see Mairen. She was gorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgeous. Her dress was sick. Maybe I’ll have her send me a pic so I can show you.

Here are Vanessa and Skender. Like Doug and me, they’re I think the only ones out of the G-town crew who aren’t married or engaged. The thing I like about these two is that their appearances are deceiving. She is pretty young, but a hell of a lot more mature than I’ll ever be. Skender, meantime, is quite large. I mean, he’s a big dude. But he’s a pussycat, and I mean that in a good way. He’s always smiling and he’s pretty friggin funny.

Here’s Catherine again and her soon-to-be hubby Franklin. They’re really cute together. Catherine is one of those people you instantly feel comfortable with. This pic was taken at Rebecca and Brett’s engagement dinner (different from engagement PARTY of course). Catherine was, I believe, studying for law school exams (?) so Franklin came solo. He’s a big karaoke guy, a major bonus in my book. Although, I don’t recall hearing him actually sing because I was too distracted by Rebecca celebrating her engagement by dancing on the bench near the karaoke set up. I thought she was going to fall right into the whole thing.
OK, so there you go. Hopefully one of my other friends will send some pics and you can see my other bff’s, like Julie, Alicia and Laura; as well as some of our staff and crew who partied like rock stars that night.
